Flora and Fauna in Monteverde
It`s have six zones of life appear in the Reserve and its biodiversity includes more of: 400 species of birds – including the quetzal, clandria and pavoncillo-, 120 species of amphibians and reptiles, 490 of butterflies, 100 of mammals – some like the moose, the jaguar and manigordo are in extinction danger, 2,500 plants – between which are 420 of orchids that bloom mainly in March, 200 ferns. This biological diversity distributes in a altitudinal rank average of 1,200 M.s, from 660 M.s in slopes of the Caribbean to the 1,860 M.s in summits of hills. The natural dwarfed forests, carved by the wind in exhibited hills, stay stocky, whereas the forests of gallery own majestic trees, adorned with orchids, bromelias, ferns, rattans and mosses.
